Meanwhile, the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka will celebrate the first day of the New Year as Ugadi or Yugadi on the same day. Apart from these, Sindhi Hindus will celebrate their New Year as Cheti Chand, which is also the birth anniversary of their patron saint Lord Jhulelal. The Hindus in the Kashmir region will celebrate their New Year, named ‘Navreh’, on March 23. The festival is dedicated to their Goddess Sharika.
