Kohli is a fiery character on the field who loves competition and challenges. But off the field, the player is known for his friendly behaviour with opponents and for lending his helping hand to anyone in need.
The Indian batter is known for his batting, his mind-boggling fitness regime and has innumerable fans in Pakistan. And Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad is one of them.
In a recent chat in a podcast, Ahmed Shehzad revealed his admiration for Kohli and was in all praises for him for turning India’s Test fortunes.
“We share a mutual respect for each other. Whenever I need any advice regarding cricket, he has been kind (to help me out). I really respect him as a player. He has changed himself dramatically. When he burst onto the scene during the U-19 World Cup, he was a bit chubby. But the way he has transformed himself, not just from the cricketing aspect, it is commendable,” Shehzad said on Nadir Ali Podcast.
Virat Kohli is going through a lean patch at the moment as the batter struggled in the recently concluded WTC Final against Australia, but Shehzad feels Kohli’s best is still to come.
“He took India to new heights in Test cricket. I haven’t seen someone who has adapted so quickly. I feel, his best is yet to come,” he added.
During Kohli’s tenure as India captain, he took India to No. 1 in Test rankings and also led India to a series win in Australia. Kohli also led India to the WTC 2021 Final but eventually lost the championship clash against New Zealand.
Ahmed Shehzad played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 59 T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 5000 runs across all formats. The Pakistani batter made his international debut in 2009 and last played in 2019. Since then the 31-year-old hasn’t made it to the Pakistan team.
