Hit-Boy and Playboi Carti haven’t collaborated since 2017’s “Other Shit,” but that could change soon according to a post from the former on Instagram.
It’s been quite some time since fans heard the two on a track together, but Hit-Boy shared a screenshot of their Instagram DMs that suggest they’re willing to hop into the studio again. “I’m With u 4Ever,” wrote Carti in the screenshot, which otherwise censored the rest of their messages.
“My brudda @playboicarti tapped in we haven’t worked since ‘Other Shit’ off his first album,” wrote Hit-Boy alongside the screenshot, referring to Carti’s self-titled 2017 project. “Y’all @ my boy and tell him y’all wanna see us back in.” Earlier this week, the rapper and producer retweeted a fan’s comment about the beat for “Other Shit.”
Hit-Boy has kept himself very busy throughout 2021, working on two projects with Nas, King’s Disease II and Magic, and an EP with frequent collaborator Big Sean. He also co-produced Don Toliver’s “What You Need,” among other tracks.
Carti, meanwhile, kept relatively quiet in regards to new music, instead delivering a number of high-profile festival performances and two memorable appearances on Kanye West’s Donda (or three if you count “Pt. 2” of “Junya”). His last extensive release, Whole Lotta Red, arrived on Christmas Day, 2020.
