If you’re a fan of pressing vehicles into environments where they are least expected to be found, it appears there will soon be multiple options with which to hoon. Hot on the heels of Porsche releasing details of its upcoming 911 Dakar, the crew at Lamborghini have shown up to remind us all they have a similar project in the hopper.

In the works for some time and shown in official prototype photos earlier this year, the Huracán Sterrato is billed as the first “all-terrain sports car with a V10 engine and all-wheel-drive”, with that cylinder count permitting those ever-flamboyant marketers at Lamborghini to make the claim. Whilst these photos mark the first official occasion we’ve been shown the production Sterrato’s chunky body work, key details such as ride height and engine tuning remain a mystery for now. And, if you’re wondering, Sterrato literally means “dirt” in Italian.

Still, there are details to be gleaned. A close look at the rubber on this car reveal the tires to be 40-series Bridgestone Duelers, perhaps on a 235 section. This would roughly align in terms of just-slightly-more-than overall height compared to a Huracan meant for the race track.

That’s a readily available size of Dueler, by the way, so it may be unlikely that Lambo coerced the tire maker into crafting bespoke sets for this project. As someone who’s busted plenty of tires off-road, that’s a good thing. The tire size also doesn’t appear to be staggered – more good news for emergency replacement – but anything can happen with easily swappable parts like tires between now and the car’s introduction.

Scoops and intakes in sufficient quantity to inhale a flock of sheep sprout from the Sterrato’s sheet metal, cropping up along the sills and atop the roof. Speaking of that area, a set of stout rails appear ready to accept a rooftop tent, though we openly wonder how much weight the tin top of a Huracan can bear.

Still, there are plenty of private punters throwing these accommodations atop the likes of a (non-Dakar) Porsche 911, so perhaps it’ll be fine so long as Andre the Giant doesn’t rent it as an Airbnb. Fender flares are added to its flanks and a pair of forward-facing LED lights have been tacked onto the front bumper, too.

Lamborghini will officially unveil the bonkers Sterrato in Miami later this month.
