Sean Murray revealed that Troian Bellisario had a childhood crush on his Hocus Pocus character.

As reported by ScreenRant, star Sean Murray recently revealed that his now step-sister Troian Bellisario had a childhood crush on his Hocus Pocus character. In Hocus Pocus, Murray played Thackery Binx, a young man who gets cursed by the Sanderson sisters and has to live as a cat for centuries. Though the actor did not appear in 2022’s Hocus Pocus 2, Murray has found success starring on CBS’s popular series NCIS where he plays Special Agent Timothy McGee.

During his recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, Murray spoke to EW about NCIS’s 450th episode, his thoughts on the Hocus Pocus sequel, and revealed that his now step-sister Bellisario used to have a crush on his Hocus Pocus character.

Murray stated that his heartthrob status in Hocus Pocus “always cracks me up” before going on to reveal that his character caught the attention of someone close to him. Back in 1998, Murray’s mother, Vivienne Murray, married producer and screenwriter Donald P. Bellisario. However, when Murray first met his step-siblings, he wasn’t aware that one of them had feelings for his Disney character.

Murray said, “Troian Bellisario, who became my stepsister after a certain point, was acting a little weird around me when she first knew me. She then told me years later it was because when she was a kid, she had seen Hocus Pocus and had a crush on me and she was trying to work that out.”

Bellisario, who is best known for playing Spencer in Pretty Little Liars, was just eight years old when Hocus Pocus premiered back in 1993.

The actor then went on to reflect on his experience with the original film noting that with its summertime release, no one thought Hocus Pocus would end up having the impact that it did. He said, “At the time, we were just doing our thing. We didn’t know what it would become. It was a bomb when it was first released.”

Murray also noted how the Halloween fan favorite is getting a second life with a whole new generation. He said, “I was seeing the kids that grew up on Hocus Pocus, they now have kids, and they’re showing their kids Hocus Pocus. It’s really cool seeing the second generation discover Hocus Pocus and be like, ‘You know what? This is like the greatest Halloween movie ever made.'”
