Real-life Hollyoaks couple announce pregnancy in sweet post

Hollyoaks stars Nadine Mulkerrin and Rory Douglas-Speed have announced they are expecting a second child together.

The soap stars – whose characters Cleo McQueen and Joel Dexter have an on-off romance – are parents to two-year-old son Reggie.

And on Christmas day, they took to social media to share the amazing news.

Nadine shared an adorable image of little Reggie sitting in front of a small Christmas tree with his legs out. Reggie was having a look at a baby scan placed on his lap.

Nadine captioned the photo on her page: “‘ This better not be my only gift mum’,” along with a heart emoji.

Rory shared a similar picture along with one of Nadine showing off her baby bump as she stood next to the Christmas tree.

“ Well. Here we go again…. I ‘think Reggie is warming to the idea of having a little brother or sister,” he captioned the series of posts.

Fans and friends took to both their comment sections to compliment the stars on the happy news.

“What lovely news. Congratulations and Merry Christmas to you all,” one excited user exclaimed.

Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe commented a few heart emojis and raising hands emojis.

Co-star Theo Graham posted: “Man like Reggie. congratulations guys,” while Sarah Jayne Dunn added: “Congratulations!”

Parry Glasspool commented: “Whaaaaat!? Holy crumbs, CONGRATS!!!”

The Duchess actor posted: “So excited to meet baby number two. Reggies reaction had me in stitches,” along with a few laughing emojis.

Nadine and Rory shared the news of their first pregnancy before they hit the red carpet for the British Soap Awards in Salford back in 2019.

Nadine gave birth to little Reggie in October 2019, with the two sharing the news on social media.

“Welcome to the family wee Reggie Speed 15.8.19,” Rory wrote at the time

“We love You man. So proud of Nadine, I didn’t think I could love her anymore but my heart is bloody bursting! She was amazing throughout her labour. Women are seriously Superhuman x.”

The couple have been together since 2017 and they announced their engagement in December 2018.

Their characters – Joel and Cleo – got married themselves on Hollyoaks, and Rory followed suit months later with his own proposal.

“It was terrifying. I felt like I was on my knee for an eternity and I remember saying: ‘Go on, just say something!'” he joked to OK! magazine.

“I felt that she was always going to say yes because we always have a laugh about it, but in that moment when I was on my knee I thought, she’s saying no!”
