Home exchange: Britons can save £1,065 on seven night staycation- ‘Truly special’

Perhaps the world’s most famous depiction of home swapping, The Holiday is a Christmas favourite in many British households. In the romantic movie, Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet swap their LA and UK homes, finding romance and adventure along the way.

“In the build up to Christmas, many people are reconsidering their options, and they’re looking to stay local to avoid the added costs and hassles that currently come with international travel.”

Fiona Rhodes decided to stay in the UK for a winter break this year. She opted to swap her flat overlooking the Malvern Hills for a break in London.

She told Express.co.uk: “We thought it was a great opportunity to go away and book good accommodation without being exploited.

“So much accommodation had already been booked up when we started looking so home swap seemed like a great idea.

DON’T MISS

“We also didn’t want the hassle of travelling abroad and it’s a fantastic chance to see more of the UK.”

Fiona told Express.co.uk she has another stay booked in Edinburgh and would definitely recommend home swap.

While swapping homes with a fellow Briton is a great chance to see another part of the country, British people can also save well over £1,000 on a holiday.

Célia told Express.co.uk: “Our members save an average of £1,065 on a seven night break and with 36 percent of them travelling four times a year, the savings quickly stack up.

“This type of travel also offers authentic, original and unique holiday accommodation for travel-lovers who are looking for somewhere truly special, a place where you’ll have room to relax in, with all the comforts of home.”

Célia also shared a few of her top home swap tips with Express.co.uk for first time swappers.

She said: “Put a little love into writing a great home listing. It doesn’t need to be long, but a short description of what makes your home so special and a few photos of your property is all you need.

“Enjoy chatting to other members, as this will provide you with plenty of reassurance.

“In the current climate, a lot of people are still nervous about public areas such as lobbies, bars, restaurants, spas and pool areas.

“But staying in a home gives you a sense of control over your environment, so talk openly with our friendly community, and you’ll find that they’re a likeminded group of people who are passionate about enjoying safe yet fun holidays.”

Love Home Swap also offers members the chance to exchange cars, gym memberships or even pets!

While home swappers might not get Jude Law knocking on their door, it does offer Britons a bargain staycation and an exciting UK adventure.

Love Home Swap has homes in more than 100 countries and many exchanges in the UK.
