Honda launches new Activa with car-like smart features at Rs 74,536

India’s second biggest two-wheeler company, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Monday launched a new version of its popular Activa scooter with several new advanced safety features like car-like smart key that lets riders to easily locate the vehicle. The new version called Activa H-Smart will be available at a starting price of Rs 74,536 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The company said the new Honda Activa H-Smart will be available in three trims — Standard, Deluxe and Smart — priced at Rs 74,536, Rs 77,036 and Rs 80,537 (ex-showroom), respectively. It claims that the new Activa will get five new patented applications.

The Activa 6G Smart Key variant gets four smart features -Smart Unlock, Smart Start, Smart Find & Smart Safe.

The Smart Unlock feature allows you to lock/unlock your Activa’s handlebars, storage area and fuel filler cap.

The smart find feature which it respond when the user tries to find it using the smart key. The smart key also lets the rider to lock and unlock the scooter without using the physical key. Riders can also start the scooter’s engine two meters away from the vehicle. It also has an engine start and stop switch.

The new Activa is compliant with on board diagnostics (OBD 2). From April this year, vehicles will need to have an on-board self-diagnostic device to monitor the real-time driving emission levels. The device will constantly monitor key parts for meeting emission standards such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors, to keep a close watch on emissions.

The new Honda Activa will also have a bigger wheelbase, a long footbard area, a new passing switch and DC LED headlamp and a new design for alloy wheels.

The device will automatically indicate warning lights in case of vehicle exceeding the emissions parameters.

HMSI leads the market share of 56 per cent in scooter segment.
