A horrifying video has emerged, appearing to show a Ukrainian prisoner of war being castrated by his Russian captors.

THE HORRIFYING VIDEO WAS SHARED ON A PRO-RUSSIAN TELEGRAM PAGE

The video, which was initially shared on a pro-Russian Telegram page, showed a group of men in Russian camouflage, which featured a “Z” patch, pinning down a man who appears to be a captured Ukrainian soldier.

One of them uses a box-cutting knife and appears to remove his genitals in front of the camera.

It is unclear exactly when or where the footage was taken, but according to a report by Daily Mail UK, some of the Russian soldiers who appear in the video were filmed on the frontlines in Donbas back in June.

‘RUSSIA HAS TO PAY FOR IT’

Ukrainian MP Inna Sovsun tweeted the footage, saying: ‘Russia has to pay for it.’

It is also unclear what happened to the Ukrainian soldier in the video, but it is unlikely he survived his injuries without immediate medical attention.

Aric Toler, from the investigative website Bellingcat which successfully identified the Salisbury poisoners, has told The Times that the video is likely genuine.

He said there is no evidence that the video has been manipulated, pointing to Russian state media showing some of the same Russian soldiers in the city of Severodonetsk in June – shortly after it was captured from Ukraine.

THE VIDEO IS LIKELY GENUINE

According to a report by Newsweek, the Twitter account Geolotics located the video in Severodonetsk, which suggests the footage could be several weeks old since fighting has largely subsided in the city since Russia captured it on June 25.
