A HOTEL guest has been slammed online for making unreasonable requests to a member of staff.
The visitor had booked a stay at the hotel for himself, his partner and their two children, but was annoyed with the room he was put in.
The king suite had enough bed space for all of his family members, but he still seemed furious with the option that he was given and argued with the young staff member working on the reception desk.
She informed him that the room he had been put in was the only room available and that, if he wanted to cancel the room, he wouldn’t be able to stay at the hotel.
However, he didn’t understand and continued to argue that the room was not good enough, despite it having enough room for his family to sleep.
The woman working at reception filmed the encounter and shared it on Tiktok (@localtumbleweed) for others to see.
The video starts with the man highlighting what he thinks is the problem.
He said: “We have two kids and two adults, the reservation on our phone is clear what we reserved.
“What do you expect us to do?”
The member of staff pointed out that in the room they had booked there was a king-sized bed and a sofa bed for the kids to sleep on.
She offered to check him into the room, but he was adamant it wasn’t suitable.
He continued: “We have two kids and us, we can’t all sleep on a king bed, that’s ridiculous. What do you expect us to do?”
The woman pointed out that the only two options available were to use the room, or to cancel and go somewhere else, which the man was unhappy about.
He asked: “And then have us sleep in our car?”
At one point an exasperated onlooker tried to calm the situation by explaining to the man that his kids could sleep on the fold down sofa bed.
He said: “You have a king bed and a pull out…so you have two beds and four people.”
But the furious guest still didn’t seem to understand and told the other man it was none of his business and asked, “what are you doing jumping into this?”
The woman tries to end the encounter by telling the man that she would cancel the reservation, explaining that “there are a lot of other hotels in the area.”
The video has been seen more than 45million times and received more than 219,000 comments, with no obvious support for the angry guest.
Instead, everyone is full of praise for the hotel worker and the way she dealt with the situation.
One said: “You handled this SO WELL.”
Another wrote: “When people cannot take responsibility for their own poor planning so they take it out on the receptionist. You are a queen the way you handled this.”
A third added: “A king and a pullout….how is that not enough for 4 people!? 2 in each bed!”
Even the official Santa Claus Tiktok account praised the woman and had a pop at the man.
Saint Nick wrote: “Horrendous behavior. Kindness matters. You handled this professionally and kindly.”
Meanwhile, these hotel staff members have revealed the things guests should never ask for.
