During the league phase BFC finished in fourth and ATKMB finished in third position in the ISL season 9 points table to qualify for the playoff round. In the playoffs, BFC edged past fifth-placed Kerala Blasters and ATK Mohun Bagan eased past sixth-placed Odisha FC.

In the semifinals, Simon Grayson’s BFC beat ISL League Shield Winners Mumbai City FC via penalty shootout after two-legged tie had ended 2-2 to reach the final, Juan Ferrando’s ATKMB edged last season’s winner Hyderabad FC via another shootout to reach the summit clash.

It will be a final featuring two teams that have lifted the title before, but how many times have they won the ISL so far?

Bengaluru FC has won the ISL once in 2018, while ATK Mohun Bagan, who played their first season in ISL from 2020-21, have never won the title so far, but came close in their inaugural campaign, finishing as runners up.

However, ATK Mohun Bagan, who contested earlier as ATK and Ateltico de Kolkata, has won the ISL three times, having won the title as Atletico de Kolkata or ATK FC in the 2014, 2016 and 2020 seasons.

BFC ISL Record

Bengaluru FC, who have been part of the league since 2017-18 season, came close to winning the title in their maiden ISL season, but lost in the final 2-3 to Chennaiyin FC. The following season, however, the Blues beat FC Goa 1-0 After Extra Time to lift the title.

In the seasons that followed till the ongoing campaign, Bengaluru FC has reached the playoffs only once in the 2018-19 season when they finished third in the table and exited the tournament in the semifinal round. In 2019-20 and 2020-21, BFC finished outside playoff spots.

ATK Mohun Bagan ISL Record

ATK Mohun Bagan has finished in the playoff rounds in both the seasons they have played in ISL so far, having finished as runners up in 2020-21 and semifinalist in 2021-22 seasons.

Atletico de Kolkata had won the inaugural edition, beating KBFC 1-0 in the final and beat the same opponents from Kerala via a shootout in 2016. In the 2020 final, ATK beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1. So, if they manage to win it this season, it will be their first as ATK Mohun Bagan.
