How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will celebrate daughter Lilibet’s second birthday: royal expert

It’s a birthday fit for royalty – literally.

On Sunday, Prince Harry, 38, and 41-year-old Meghan Markle’s youngest child, daughter Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Winsdor, turned two – and according to a royal expert, her party will be an “all-American affair.”

“I would expect to see a sprinkling of celebrities and a laid-back party, which hopefully will include some other toddlers,” royal expert and journalist Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine UK, according to The Daily Mail.

“It would be nice to think the day might include a video call to Lilibet’s grandfather, King Charles and hopefully some sort of gift has been arranged and will be delivered to Montecito for her birthday,” she continued.

The Post reached out to reps for Prince Harry and Markle for further comment.

Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara, California – where the couple moved after deciding to exit royal life.

Prince Harry and Markle also have a son together, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, 4, who was born in London.

Archie was born on May 6, which just happened to fall on coronation day this year, where King Charles was officially crowned after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, this past September at the age of 96.

Prince Harry is said to have only stayed for just 24 hours in the United Kingdom to attend the ceremony, reportedly racing back home to get back in time for his son’s birthday.

He sat in the third row during the grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey, as there have been some mounting tensions between him and his family during the past few years, especially following the January release of his tell-all memoir, “Spare.”

During a private family gathering after the coronation ceremony, Archie’s grandfather, King Charles, reportedly gave a toast to wish the four-year-old a happy birthday “wherever he was.”

Since being born, Lilibet has only been to the United Kingdom once, according to Harpers Bazaar, for the celebrations surrounding the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Last year, the couple hosted Lilibet’s first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor – a bash that sources dubbed as “relaxed” and “informal.”

“It was a lovely do and had everything you’d expect from a child’s birthday party,” a source told The Sun at the time.

“But there was no formal entertainment. The idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual, with people free to pop in and out as they wished.”

The family was allegedly joined by Harry’s first cousin Zara Tindall’s three children – Mia, 8, Lena, 3, and Lucas, 1 – and his other first cousin Peter Phillips’ daughters, Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10.

Lilibet blew out her candles on a light-pink frosted cake adorned with large white-and-pink peonies to match.

The cake was baked by Claire Ptak, who also made the couple’s May 2018 wedding cake.

But that wasn’t the only celebration for the tot this year – on March 3, Prince Harry and Markle hosted an intimate christening for Lilibet at their home in Montecito, California.

The royal family was not in attendance.

One insider revealed that there were about 20 to 30 guests at the small gathering, and after the ceremony, they celebrated with a meal and an afternoon of dancing.

Among those who reportedly attended were Lilibet’s godfather, filmmaker Tyler Perry, an anonymous godmother, as well as Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.

The actor has been friends with Harry and Meghan for years and even invited them to stay at his $18 million abode when they first came to the United States in 2020.
