From Lovecrafts Call of Cthulhu to tales from ancient mariners, the giant underwater squid monster is a myth that has lasted the ages. In Dave the Diver, this fearsome beast once again rears its ugly head. The 8-Bit rendition of the tentacled leviathan creeps around in the background of the 8-bit water wonderland, hinting at an attack. When its layer is finally found, a battle is unavoidable, especially as it had ahold of Duff’s questionable figurine… Here’s how to beat the Giant Squid in Dave the Diver.

Beating the Giant Squid in Dave the Diver is more a game of skill and patience. You can’t rush into it, as the battle seems to be time and animation based rather than damage. Let’s face it, anything you have equipped is barely fit for large flounders at this point, let alone a Giant Squid. Take your time and time your takes.

The Giant Squid will require 4-5 attacks directly to that huge eye. It is at the far right of the screen. To make your way over to it, you must avoid the various tentacles that come from the walls. As you move Dave the Diver towards the Giant Squids’ eye, keep a look out at the floors and ceilings. There will be a tell as to where the next arm is coming from. As the dust falls or rises in the water, you can judge the angle and timing.

Just before the tentacle reaches out, use your dash to escape the targeted area, moving toward the eye. Once you hit the eye once, prepare to be pushed back. Once you have been pushed back by the Giant Squid, use the time and multiple resources on the ground to top up on ammo and oxygen. With a few repetitions, Dave the Diver will beat the Giant Squid.
