You don’t hear the phase “no purchase necessary” very often these days, but National Doughnut Day may be an exception.
It takes place on Friday, June 3 and is providing an excuse for some chains throughout Southern California to give away free samples.
Duck Donuts: This made-to-order doughnut chain will be giving every in-store customer one cinnamon sugar doughnut with no purchase necessary on Friday, according to a news release. Stores will be selling the chain’s first-ever plush toy of its mascot, Ollie. duckdonuts.com
Dunkin’: Customers get a free classic doughnut with any beverage purchase on June 3. Classics are doughnuts on the permanent menu. dunkindonuts.com
Krispy Kreme: This chain has two promotions going on Friday, according to its website. Customers at participating shops can get one free doughnut of their choice on June 3 with no purchase necessary. They can also buy a dozen original glazed doughnuts for $1 with the purchase of a dozen doughnuts or 16 minis.
From June 8 through Labor Day, there will be a “Beat the Pump” promotion with the price of a dozen original glazed doughnuts set to match the average national price of a gallon of regular gasoline, according to a news release.

Randy’s Donuts: Randy’s Donuts locations throughout Southern California will be giving away one free classic doughnut to every customer from 6 a.m. to noon. randysdonuts.com
Two smaller Southern California chains are offering different kinds of promotions.
Breakblok: This gluten-free bakery has locations in Santa Monica and Silver Lake. It has a special Matcha Yuza Donut all weekend for $8. It describes it as brioche doughnut with yuzu curd filling topped with a matcha glaze. breadblok.com
Primo’s Donuts: This business with shops in Los Angeles and Westwood ships its doughnuts throughout the United States through the national delivery service Goldbelly. Customers can get $20 off their first shipment with the code GOLDB3LLYIT, according to a news release.
