After a week off the air, the shock jock picked apart the actor’s testimony from last week in a defamation trial that has pit Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
“I’ll play you some clips from the Johnny Depp trial. If he isn’t acting — I mean, he’s so overacting because he’s writing his own material as he goes along,” Stern said Monday morning on his Sirius XM radio show. “He shouldn’t be putting this on TV in any shape.”
Stern and his longtime co-host Robin Quivers both agreed that the trial won’t be able to save Depp’s career, which the Alice in Wonderland star maintains has been derailed after Heard penned a 2018 op-ed in which she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse.
“This will not go well,” Stern said. “It’s not going well for you, it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children.”

Stern comments follow Depp’s two-day testimony in a Virginia court last week where he is suing Heard for $50 million claiming she defamed him by making abuse claims following the dissolution of their marriage in 2017.
“It’s just coming off really badly,” Stern warned. “Johnny Depp testified in court for two days last week … Think about that, lots of room to embarrass yourself. Two full, f—ng days! First of all, his difficulty in speaking the English language is fantastic…And the accent. First of all, isn’t he from like … Kentucky. Does that sound like a guy from Kentucky?”
Stern added, “The reason he wanted it televised [is because] that’s what narcissists do. [They say], ‘I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.’ No, you won’t.”

The radio personality also poked fun at Depp’s declaration that he decided to end his marriage to the Aquaman star after she allegedly pooped in their marital bed following a blowout fight.
“It was a photograph of our bed,” Depp, 58, alleged. “On my side of the bed was human fecal matter.”
After Heard claimed the excrement was left by one of her two dogs, Depp, who referred to the incident as “dropping a grumpy,” said, “That did not come from a dog. It just didn’t.”
During opening statements earlier this month, Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn alleged Heard suffered domestic abuse by Depp, whom she met while the pair filmed 2011’s The Rum Diary. She is counter-suing the Oscar nominee for $100 million saying Depp smeared her by calling her a liar.

In 2020, a London High Court judge ruled that Depp had repeatedly assaulted Heard during their marriage.
Depp managed to garner some laughter Monday when he was asked by his legal team to name some of the other movie franchises he’s appeared in other than Pirates of the Caribbean.
“I’m so pathetic when it comes to knowing what movies I’ve done,” Depp said. “I’m sorry. I just, I don’t watch them. I feel better not watching them. What was the question again?”
After laughter broke out, Judge Penney Azcarate warned spectators, “Order in the court or I will have you removed.”
On Monday, Heard’s lawyers argued that Depp orchestrated his own career demise, presenting news articles written before her op-ed with headlines such as “Why are all of Johnny Depp’s movies bombing at the box office?” and “Where did it all go wrong for Johnny Depp?”
