The Howard Bison are one of the hottest mid-major teams in college basketball right now, winning nine straight games in the Mid-Eastern Conference to move to 17-10 on the season.
Howard has dominated in conference play, and it has another matchup with a Mid-Eastern opponent in the Morgan State Bears on Monday night.
Morgan State lost to Howard by 32 points in their first meeting, but it is getting just 6.5 points from oddsmakers at home tonight.
That could be due to the Bears’ impressive home record in the 2022-23 season. They have gone 8-1 at home but just 2-12 on the road this season.
Does Howard pick up a 10th straight win and another cover? Here are the odds and a pick for this game:
Howard vs. Morgan State odds, spread and total
Howard vs. Morgan State prediction and pick
Both of these teams hang their hats on the offensive end of the floor, each averaging 75.2 points per game and shooting the 3-ball at a high clip.
Morgan State has been great at home this season, but the Bears have dropped three straight in conference play, including a recent 14-point home loss to MD-Eastern.
Howard beat the same MD-Eastern team by nine points last Monday.
When favored by six or more points this season, Howard is 5-1 against the spread, and it should cover again here on Monday night.
Morgan State lacked the offensive firepower to keep up with the Bison in their first meeting, scoring just 56 points in that game. The Bears prefer to play at a faster pace, ranking 11th in possessions per game, but they aren’t nearly as efficient as Howard.
The Bison rank 71st in the country in effective field goal percentage while Morgan State clocks in at No. 255 in that statistic.
I’ll lay the points with the best team in the conference on Monday night.
