Hrithik Roshan will be returning to Yash Raj Films` spy universe as Kabir with War 2. Reportedly, Jr NTR is the antagonist this time and Kiara Advani has been roped in to play the female lead. While the sequel is yet to be officially announced, viral pictures indicate that the film has gone on floors in Spain.
Pictures from the rumoured set of War 2 went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter). It appeared that the crew of the film was working on a high-octane, adrenaline-pumping action sequence involving cars. The cast of War 2 couldn`t be seen anywhere. Reportedly, Hrithik will be joining the schedule soon. He is currently busy on Fighter with Anil Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
A source close to the development informed Mid-Day in August, “[director] Ayan will conduct the first schedule in the picturesque locations of Europe with the lead pair. For now, a few Mediterranean countries are being considered. Obviously, it all depends on the team procuring visa, and other travel logistics. Hrithik and Kiara will shoot several action set-pieces during the two-week stint.”

Elaborate sets are being planned at a studio in Mumbai. After the schedule in Spain, the actors will fly down to the city for key scenes. The source added, “War [2019] was one of Bollywood’s hyper-stylised spy thrillers. Producer Aditya Chopra and Ayan want to up the ante with the sequel. They will have huge sets erected, which will serve as backdrops for high-octane action sequences.”
Jr NTR is expected to join Hrithik and Kiara in November. Ayan Mukerji, who directed films like Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra, will be taking over the directorial duties on War. The first part was by Siddharth Anand and starred Hrithik with Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor.
On April 4, Ayan penned a note on Instagram and gave a timeline for Brahmastra`s sequels. He also hinted at directing War. A portion of his note read, “I have another piece of news to share…The universe presented me with a very special opportunity recently – a very special movie – to step into and direct. What the movie is… more on that when the time is right 🙂 An opportunity that challenges me and terribly excites me… one where I will learn, be inspired and where I will grow! So, I have decided to take it up!! Opening myself up to all the positive energies in this universe so I can do my best and contribute to that one thing that matters most to me – Indian Cinema! Love and Light, Ayan.”
