A popular brand of yoghurt sold across Aussie supermarkets has been urgently recalled over fears it could contain traces of a deadly bacteria.
Shoppers who purchased Jalna Dairy Foods’ 1kg tubs of Jalna Lactose Free Vanilla and Jalna Sweet & Creamy Greek Coconut have been asked to immediately return the products and seek medical advice if they feel unwell after consuming the food.
The products are sold in major supermarkets all over the country, including Coles, Woolworths, IGA and independent grocery stores.
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued the recall over fears the yoghurts were contaminated with E. coli.
Some strains of the bacteria can cause serious illness. Symptoms can include diarrhoea, stomach cramps and fever.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice. and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund,” a spokesman from Food Standards said.
The vanilla yoghurt has an expiry date of July 28 while the Greek coconut yoghurt expires on August 2.
