Welsh journalist Huw Edwards, 61, who is one of the BBC’s most high-profile presenters, admitted that he was “nervous” about covering King Charles’ upcoming coronation after making an “elementary error” while reporting on his very first Trooping the Colour.

“In a way, I’ve been preparing for years…” Huw said of getting ready for The King’s Coronation coverage.

“I’m excited about it, but honestly, I’m a bit nervous, too,” he admitted to Good Housekeeping. “There’s a huge responsibility to get it right and I’m always terrified of making a mistake.

“When I was presenting my first Trooping the Colour in 2003, I mixed up Sandhurst and Sandringham,” he revealed.

“My military friends couldn’t believe I’d made such an elementary error, but I was nervous and I slipped.”

Huw will be one of many journalists reporting on the upcoming coronation, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.

The service, which will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, will be attended by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, as well as their many high-profile guests.

The ceremony comes 70 years after his mother the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned at the age of 25 on June 2, 1953, after the death of her father George VI the previous year.

The May 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping is now on sale.
