I Hated French Manicures Until I Saw Rihanna’s Abstract Flame Tips

I have a confession to make: I’ve never liked French manicures. The classic, white-tipped manicure excites me about as much as seeing avocado in my meal (this is an avocado hate account). I’ll admit that the more colorful, modern updates of the traditional design have been more pleasing to my eye, but I’m still not convinced that the French tip is That Girl. Well, I wasn’t until I saw Rihanna‘s version with black tips that looked like fiery flames.

The “Work” singer gave Instagram fans a peek at her French manicure on June 21 in a short Instagram clip showing how to use Fenty Beauty’s Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara (umm, can I look this good while applying mascara?!). Her hair was slicked back into a ponytail with swoops of baby hairs on her temples. She had light shimmery pink eye makeup with glossy pink lips, likely using products from her brand.

As she coated her lashes with the black mascara, you could see her French tips. Her long nails were filed into a squoval shape and coated with a nude polish that resembled her natural nails, a key element of any French manicure. Her curvy, inky black tips covered about half of the squoval shape.
