I went to Mamma Mia! The Party to get rid of my Eurovision FOMO

With all the hype starting to build up to Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool (come on Mae Muller!) it’s hard not to get a little bit jealous if you didn’t manage to bag any tickets. But with the cost of the tickets themselves, along with the accommodation and travel, there is another way to get your Eurovision fix; just make sure to bring your best besties along.

Who knew that saying you’re taking a ‘flight’, as the welcoming staff say, to Mamma Mia! The Party at The O2 arena in London, would give you such a high right from the very start! Walking through the Greek themed interior once you’re in, made to look as though you’re walking through the mediterranean alleyways outside in the summer heat, you’re eventually greeted into the main room, which is decked out like a huge Greek taverna, complete with performers already starting to ‘chat’ near the bar along with the relaxing sound of crickets.

You’re welcomed with a meze of dips, olives & bread and a greek salad to get you going (make sure you toast with a glass of Moët if you can too). Then before you know it, the performance begins! It’s an easy, relaxed atmosphere, much like the Mediterranean way of life, as you swing around on your chair to try and catch all the action happening in every corner of the room. As some of the waiters dance (don’t ask them for a drink if they are!), and the incredible performance finishes its first act, soon enough the main course of Confit lamb shoulder and slow cooked beef arrives complete with a serving of romesco, or roasted cauliflower with a lemon-herb dressing as a vegetarian option. Very much needed if you’re drinking a few glasses of wine…
