Ian Wright believes Antony is Manchester United’s version of Darwin Nunez following the club’s 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday. The Brazil international impressed as his side claimed all three points. And after registering his second Premier League assist of the season, he’s now been backed to kick on.
Antony provided the assist for Anthony Martial as United beat Wolves, with Alejandro Garnacho then making the result safe late on.
And Wright praised the Brazil international following the game, while also expressing a belief the Samba star will kick on and gain composure in the coming years.
“I’ve got a lot of time for him, I think he’s the same as Darwin Nunez,” the Arsenal legend told Match of the Day.
“Sometimes with the price tag, people expect so much.
“We know they have got ability, they have got quality in their first year and when you look at what he is capable of, you have to give this guy some time.”
He continued: “What he does do, he gets into space. He finds space.
Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense
“This is what is different from a lot of people, pace and skill. He is just skinning them.
“Once you get into this situation [with Sancho free in the box] now you want the calmness and composure.
“In the end a great run comes to nothing but as time goes by, he won’t waste that.
“It comes down to decisions. But as time goes by, those decisions will come easy to him.”
Erik ten Hag was happy with Antony after the win over Wolves, saying he provided a threat throughout the showdown.
“Antony dos Santos, I think he played a very good game,” said the 53-year-old.
“He was a threat all the time and I’m also happy Garna [Garnacho] is back and had an impact.
“The subs all had a big impact and there was the last week that wasn’t as good with the impact of the subs.
“They all had a huge impact on this result and I’m happy, especially with that.”
Meanwhile, United star Christian Eriksen believes his side can rely on their home form to see them through to next season’s Champions League.
“It’s definitely something that we need to do, first of all, finish the season strong with a perfect home record,” he said.

“But in the end, of course, for next season, we need to be as good as at home, but also away. And then it’s going to be a fun season.
“We know where we can pick up extra points, because at home, at the moment we’re feeling very, very secure.
“Of course, when you lose two games, the extra pressure is on. But we’ve shown the character and the quality to be where we are.
“We’re just going to focus on us. For us, it has to be three wins in the last three games.”
He added: “Everyone else is trying to dig in and help out and I think everyone on the pitch has had one or two shots today.
“And first of all, they had some very good saves from the Wolverhampton keeper.
“And for the rest, I think we have enough chances to score. It doesn’t really matter who scores, but it’s lovely to attack and score.
“It’s very good. And you can see the quality. He [Garnacho] will bring back the confidence of how he’s playing.
“And I’m pleased for him to be out for a while. And then come back and score. It’s the perfect return.”
