If Gisele Bündchen splits from Tom Brady, there’s always a Leonardo DiCaprio rekindled love story

As divorce rumors swirl around Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady, some might fantasize about the supermodel following in the path of Jennifer Lopez, who reunited with the great love of her youth and of the early 2000s.

As Lopez has gotten back together with Affleck in middle age, Bündchen could consider a similar narrative involving the equally famous man she was in love with in her late teens and early 20s: Leonardo DiCaprio, who happens to be newly single after his reported breakup from Camila Morrone.

Bündchen captured DiCaprio’s heart in 2000, when he was one of the world’s most eligible bachelor’s following his heartthrob role in “Titanic.”  They dated until 2005 — one of DiCaprio’s longest known relationships — and together they were included on People’s magazine’s Most Beautiful Couples list for 2004.

“We were very young, and we grew together in a lot of ways,” Bündchen said in a 2009 interview with Vanity Fair. “We were just not meant to be boyfriend and girlfriend, but I respect him enormously, and I wish him nothing but the best.”

If Bündchen got back together with DiCaprio, she could help him enjoy his first age-appropriate relationship in years. She’s 42, and the “Wolf of Wall Street” star is 47.

When news broke late last month that DiCaprio and Morrone had gone their separate ways — a couple months after she turned 25 — people across social media remarked on how predictable the actor had become with his dating choices. Over the years, he has established a pattern of never dating any of his eight known girlfriends much past their 25th birthdays.

The pattern in fact began with Bündchen. The Brazilian model was 23 when they split, although DiCaprio, at 29, was in her age range at the time. As the years have gone on and DiCaprio aged, he maintained his preference for girlfriends in their early 20s.

Perhaps Bündchen could be the one to break that pattern, and she and DiCaprio could, like Lopez and Affleck, represent another triumph of later-in-life love. That is, if it looks like she and Brady can’t get past their reported troubles.

Page Six last revealed that Bundchen left their family compound in Tampa, Fla., for Costa Rica, following a series of heated arguments over Brady’s “shock” decision to un-retire from the NFL.

“Tom and Gisele are in a fight right now,” a source told Page Six, adding that this has happened before with the couple, but they have always reunited in the past.

Page Six on Tuesday reported that Bundchen and the Buccaneers quarterback, 45, have still not reconciled, even after she returned from Costa Rico. The model returned to Florida to be with their children, but has still not returned to their home in Tampa. They are parents of Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 9, as well as of Jack, the Brady’s 15-year-old son with ex Bridget Moynahan.

“Gisele isn’t back with Tom,” a source told Page Six. Bundchen is staying in Miami and was seen with their children at a Florida water park. “Tom is still hoping they can reconcile. Gisele has told him she’s leaving him before, and they always made up when she cooled down.”

This source told Page Six that reports that the couple are currently divorcing are “not true.” However, other sources have told Page Six that the couple “could be headed in that direction.”

Bündchen reportedly is angry because Brady said he was retiring to spend more time with his family, but he changed his mind about retiring. Another source told Page Six: “There’s been trouble in the marriage over his decision to un-retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids.”

The news of the couple’s “epic fight” comes after the NFL star missed 11 days of training in August, Page Six said. When reporters asked about his absence, Brady said: “It’s all personal … everyone’s got different situations they’re dealing with. We all have really unique challenges to our life. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of (expletive) going on.”

Of course, if Bündchen wants to be done with men who have trouble focusing on her, DiCaprio might not be the best candidate for a rekindled romance.  If Brady can’t stay away from football, DiCaprio reportedly couldn’t stay away from other women when he was with Bündchen.

As Vanity Fair reported, Bundchen and DiCaprio’s relationship “was fraught with dramas that included an eight-month breakup, a reconciliation, and recurring reports of Gisele’s exasperation at Leo’s womanizing ways.”
