If I Could Eat Lizzo’s Soft Serve Ponytail, I Would

Last week, Lizzo reminded us who the hell she is with a butt-length silver wig that reminded us of Daenerys Targaryen’s signature platinum hair. She rarely keeps a hairstyle, cut, or color for too long, so less than 24 hours later the “About That Time” singer was back on the ‘gram with a high, curly ponytail. Two days after that, she showed off her straight-back cornrows. Most recently, she’s switched up her look once again with a sky-high side ponytail that would rival Jojo Siwa’s. 

On August 22, the singer-songwriter posted an Instagram carousel with three photos featuring her in a black robe with flushed cheeks and a sleek ponytail. Hairstylist Shelby Swain brushed Lizzo’s hair into a slicked-back side ponytail near the top of her head, which you can fully see in the second photo. Not one stray hair is peeking out from this sleek hairdo, so we definitely need the details on what gel Swain used because that hold looks strong. Swain didn’t forget about the baby hairs, of course, but they are more of the side character in this look rather than a protagonist.

What really makes this side ponytail interesting is how all the hair was curled and wounded into a single spiral. This swirly ponytail basically resembles soft serve ice cream or a tornado, depending on your perspective. Swain wrapped a chunk of glossy hair around the base of the ponytail, giving it that perfect finishing touch.
