The Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics to advance to the NBA Finals. The Heat have been one of the great underdog stories in NBA history as only the second No. 8 seed to advance to the championship round.
Jimmy Butler has been the star of the show for Miami, but another veteran will be making his fifth appearance in the NBA Finals. Kevin Love, who joined the Heat following a buyout from the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this year, is seeking his second NBA title.
After several seasons of missing the playoffs in Minnesota, Love got his first taste of a winning team when he joined the Cavs back in 2014. Since then, he’s made the most out of his playoff appearances, as seen by one interesting stat.

Every time Love has qualified for the playoffs, his team has advanced to the NBA Finals. The Cavs made four straight Finals from 2015-2018, and the Heat have advanced to the Finals this year.
Through four Finals appearances, Love has one championship ring. That came in 2016, when the Cavaliers knocked off the 73-9 Golden State Warriors to win the franchise’s first title.
The Heat will be looking to make history of their own when they face the Denver Nuggets in this year’s Finals. The 1999 New York Knicks, the only previous No. 8 seed to make the Finals, lost in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
If the Heat manage to win two games against the Nuggets, it would be the greatest playoff run by a No. 8 seed in the history of the NBA.
