Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has so far had a nearly 150 per cent jump in international job offers in the 2021-22 campus placements. Despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy, it has received 47 international offers compared to 19 last year.

As many as 216 companies have completed their recruitment process, and more are lined up for the ongoing placements. The top recruiters include Axtria, EXL, Graviton, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Intel, Microsoft, OLA, Rubrik, Samsung, Quadeye and Uber.

At the end of Day 4 of the placements, held virtually, 49 offers promised salary packages of above Rs 1 crore with the overall highest package of $274,250 (Rs 2.06 crore) and Rs 1.2 crore for international and domestic profiles, respectively.

The institute has received a total of 940 offers, of which 773 have been accepted by students. This is in addition to 156 pre-placement offers (PPOs) that were already accepted. According to IIT Kanpur, core sector companies accounted for over 11 per cent with 109 offers, while 16 start-ups have offered 45 jobs.

“IIT Kanpur is known for its academic excellence. The new highs we are witnessing this year is indicative of the growing trust recruiters are bestowing upon the institute and its students, despite the pandemic-induced challenges. We are confident that we would end the remainder of the season on a high as well,” IIT Kanpur Director Abhay Karandikar said.

Out of 773 students placed so far, 55 per cent are graduates and 45 per cent are undergraduates.

Registered in 1959, IIT Kanpur was assisted by nine leading institutions of the US in setting up its academic programmes and laboratories during 1962-72. It is widely reckoned as a learning centre of repute in engineering, science, and several interdisciplinary areas.
