Il Divo fans have shared their favourite memories of Carlos Marín following his death.

The Regresa a Mí singer died aged 53, with his bandmates – Urs Bühler, David Miller, and Sébastien Izambard – confirming the news in a heartfelt statement on social media.

Following the announcement, they asked their followers to flood social media with their beloved memories of the late star.

‘At this time, we would like to invite all of our fans to join us in celebrating the life of our dear friend and partner Carlos Marin,’ a post on the band’s official account read.

‘Please share and post your favourite memories of Carlos using the hashtag #CarlosMarinForever.’

And fans did so in their droves.

’Just over 2 weeks ago in Brighton. Carlos wishing everyone a very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year….so very poignant now!!! #carlosmarinforever,’ a follower replied.

‘Carlos’ rich, powerful voice and unique tone always really stood out for me. His volume and throw in live performances was absolutely phenomenal,’ another said. ‘Sometimes I worried for his jaw because of how wide he was able to open it! #CarlosMarinForever.

‘I was lucky enough to see you guys live when you were touring for A Musical Affair, and Carlos was incredibly fun on stage. 

‘I loved how he played up the flirty dynamic, calling all the ladies in the audience beautiful and just being charming and cheeky. #CarlosMarinForever.’

‘His powerful voice will be resonate in our heads forever! #CarlosMarínForever,’ a Twitter user posted.

As one added: ‘Carlos was one of a kind. Latin lover with silly jokes and an amazing, gifted voice. 

‘He will be so missed…but all those beautiful songs he brought us will keep him alive and in our hearts forever  #IlDivo #CarlosMarinForever.’

Classical crossover group Il Divo were first formed in 2003 by Simon Cowell under his SyCo record label, before they later parted ways with the music mogul.

They grew to worldwide success, with their debut album in 2004 becoming a multiplatinum-selling record.

Marín, a Spanish baritone, was rushed to hospital earlier recently and placed in the intensive care unit.

His bandmates confirmed the news of his death on Sunday as they led tributes – but his cause of death has not been shared.

‘It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away,’ they penned, beside a photo of him. 

‘He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There wiIl never be another voice or spirit like Carlos.’

‘For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend,’ they concluded the post.

‘We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace. With Love — David, Sebastien and Urs.’
