A MICHELIN-STARRED chef visited the UK’s best McDonald’s – and shared the classy options that made it so good.
Gareth Ward, who runs a Michelin star restaurant, said there’s something different about the branch in Welshpool, Wales.
The fast food chain is one of the most popular in the world, with more than 38,000 restaurants selling their burgers and fries in over 100 different countries.
But plenty of fans have dubbed this branch the best.
The McDonald’s at Enterprise Park in Welshpool, Powys, has been described as the world’s best by fans, commenting on the classy atmosphere and delicious food.
One of its admirers is chef Gareth Ward, who has two Michelin stars, five AA rosettes and a multiple award-winning restaurant.
The told Wales Online it was on another level to other Maccy Ds restaurants elsewhere.
Gareth said: “I’m telling you now, Welshpool McDonald’s is on a different level. It’s just got different [elements] to everyone else.
‘It’s just absolutely smashing it.
“Last time I had a crispy chicken and it definitely had something like truffle mayonnaise on it. I don’t think it did, but it tasted like it did.”
He’s not the only one singing its praises.
Gareth revealed: “Everybody I speak to says this is, by far, the best McDonald’s in the world. Welshpool McDonald’s that’s what it’s all about.”
Plenty of fans have taken to posting rave reviews about the branch – it’s clear to see why it’s so popular.
One review read: “Fast and efficient service and quiet as the kitchen isn’t in view. The food was good quality. One of the best McDonald’s in the UK.”
A second said: “I visited here with my partner and three young children late one eve on way back from holiday. Kids were very tired. I just wanted to write how fantastic the staff are at this restaurant.
It added: “If passing again I will definitely be stopping again.”
The restaurant was opened in May 2021 by franchisee Bob Beckett.
McDonald’s has hit headlines recently as it made some changes to its menu.
Meanwhile, one Maccy’s branch once dubbed the UK’s “worst” with “cold” burgers that “taste like cardboard,” has undergone a major change.
The branch in Kingswinford, West Midlands has, in the past, been slammed by customers over poor service, bad food and “order mix-ups”.
