A PACKING expert has revealed a hack to keep clothes crease-free while on holiday – and it won’t cost you anything.
Lydia Mansel runs the site Just Packed, which aims to make packing easier, and she has a trick for avoiding wrinkled shirts.
Speaking to Travel + Leisure she said: “When packing for your next adventure, put your more delicate items inside the dry cleaning bags, including your cotton and linen pieces.
“You’ll fold each piece of clothing as usual and place it inside a separate bag before placing it in your suitcase or duffel bag.
“This tactic works because the bags will slide against each other, meaning your cotton t-shirts and breezy linen pants won’t get stuck and inevitably cause deep creases and messy wrinkles while in transit.”
If you don’t have dry cleaning bags in your cupboards, you can use bin bags or similar unscented plastic bags.
Don’t worry about wrapping silk, wool, denim or cashmere clothing items either as they tend not to crease.
Clothes that commonly crease are things like cotton or linen.
Alternatively, separate your clothes out with tissue paper, while rolling delicate clothes can cut down on wrinkles.
Make sure to unpack as soon as you arrive at your hotel too, as leaving your clothes sitting in your case means they will crease further.
Lydia also suggests working out your packing needs at least one week before your trip, although says two weeks is even better.
And you can save room in your bag in other ways too, opting for an e-reader and downsizing on your shoe collection.
If you’re tight on space in your suitcase, try rolling your clothes into a vacuum bag to save some room, or use a packing cube.
Alternatively, give your hotel a ring to see what amenities they already have.
