I’m a Sun Holidays superfan and I’ve been on 122 of the unbeatable breaks

To get you in the holiday mood, Laurie Stone talked to readers who’ve enjoyed getaways with us, including Pete Hill – aka Mr Sun Holidays – who has been on 122 of them!

SUN Holiday veteran Pete Hill is a superfan.

He says: “I like to choose a park around the country and then explore the local area.

“It is a fantastic way to get to know the British coastline.

“I should know – I have covered almost every mile of it!”

Pete’s holiday happiness was cut short in 2020 when the pandemic locked down the country.

But he has since notched up holidays number 121 and 122 at Parkdean Resorts’ Vauxhall Park Holiday in Great Yarmouth and Parkdean Resorts’ Cresswell Towers, Northumberland.

Pete, 66, says: “Cresswell was amazing with so many great attractions to visit – Alnwick Castle is superb and the nearby beaches are lovely to take a stroll along and enjoy the sea air. And I couldn’t resist crossing the border to Scotland.

“Vauxhall is another of my favourites – there is always so much going on around the park, it’s only a few minutes to the beach and Great Yarmouth is a bustling holiday attraction.

“I am looking forward to more adventures this year.

“It’s just a question of picking out the perfect destination.”

Retired engineer Pete, who lives in West Bromwich, West Midlands, is quite happy to get away on his own or with wife, Dawn, 63, a senior office administrator.

BROTHERS Xavier and Xander Hobley love their Hols From £9.50 so much their parents decided to do something X-tra special.

Mum and dad Kerry and Mark have started booking back-to-back bargain breaks that turn their short-stay holidays into week-long bonanzas.

“Sun Holidays provide everything you need for a fantastic getaway all under one roof,” says 37-year-old Kerry, a full-time mum.

Five-year-old Xavier and his younger brother, Xander, two, certainly make the most of their time on holiday.

Kerry says: “They find staying in a caravan is one big adventure. And once they are on the park, they are on the go almost from dawn to dusk.

“They love the cuddly characters, shows and the evening entertainment. They can let off steam in the adventure playgrounds and swimming is also high on their to-do list.”

The family from Caistor, Lincolnshire, have visited Parkdean Resorts’ Whitley Bay Holiday Park, Northumberland, Duinrell Holiday Park in South Holland and are excitedly looking forward to a Sun holidays road trip taking in caravan parks in France and Spain during the summer.

“It’s going to be amazing,” beams Kerry. “We load up the car with food and toys the children might need to save any unnecessary expense.

“You have to save where you can these days, don’t you?”

LORRY driver Steve Wass is used to criss-crossing the country – but his favourite destination is a Hols From £9.50 break with his family.

The 50-year-old and his partner, Hannah, 33, along with their two children, Ellie, 18, who works in a pub, and 12-year-old Archie, were bowled over by the beautiful Parkdean Resorts Sandford Holiday Park in Poole, Dorset.

And now they can’t wait to go back, but this time with a new addition to the family – Romani-Storm, who was born in May.

“It will mean so much to return to Sandford with the latest addition to the family,” says Steve. “It is such a beautiful park.

“There’s nothing quite like waking up early, making a coffee, and sitting outside the caravan.

“There are stunning views. It’s lovely and quiet and a world away from Britain’s motorways where I spend most of my working days.

“I have been getting The Sun for years and when I first saw the Holidays, I thought they were too good to be true. But it was such a brilliant opportunity that I gave it a go and have never looked back.

“You can’t get anything like them. They’re smashing value.”

Fantastic fun for the family

DIXIE Aristibo had a wild time on her Hols From £9.50 break – even getting a cuddle with Lizzie the Lizard, above.

The five-year-old, with mum Charleigh and dad Ryan, had the time of her life at Parkdean Resorts’ Sandford Holiday Park in Poole, Dorset.

Window cleaner Ryan, 41, says it was great to spend quality time with Dixie and her one-year-old sister Dusty. He adds: “Dixie enjoyed every minute. Her little face lit up every time she saw the Starland Krew. They are her favourites.”

The family from Wallington, Surrey, are now planning to collect the tokens in our latest promotion for another break – and are considering heading to Cornwall, Devon or Wales. “The parks offer so much variety,” says Charleigh.

 “They are also a healthy holiday as we really enjoy the swimming and going on long walks as a family. The parks are lovely and safe and the staff are absolutely brilliant.

“We’re so pleased the holidays are happening again. We can’t get enough of them.”
