One of her tips is to always pack a bag of porridge that can be cooked using just hot water, in case you are caught short in a hotel room with no way of cooking.

She explained: “If you don’t have a microwave, bring an instant oatmeal packet with you while traveling and use the boiling water from the coffee machine to have breakfast.”

Most supermarkets sell instant porridge pots for as little as 50p so are a great option when wanting to save money.

You might also want to avoid the cooked hotel breakfast, according to ex-workers, who warn it isn’t what it seems.

Instead, opt for a takeaway bag of pastries which are often free when breakfast is included.

And here are some of the best hotel breakfasts in the world.

Kat also shared her top tips for staying safe in hotels with one simple rule that many guests break – repeating your room number at the front desk.

She continued: “Just in case there’s anyone around, you don’t want them knowing where you’re staying.”

This means if you and your family are overheard saying your room, only to all be spotted at the hotel swimming pool later, opportunists will know your room is empty.

Other safety methods include always using the deadbolt on a hotel room – as key cards can easily be hacked to gain access to rooms – as well as checking the room for intruders before settling in.

Health-wise, she advises always removing the decorative pillows, which never get washed, and never putting your suitcase on the bed due to the dirt it has trundled around.

Kat soared to fame after she posted her first video, revealing how to stay safe and even how to spot bedbugs in a hotel, which racked up 6.2m views.

She told Forbes: “I made these videos to help others stay clean and safe and have a more comfortable experience when traveling.

“I was honestly shocked to see in my comment section on hotel tips how much people don’t think of germs when staying in a hotel. (I mean, thousands of bodies see those rooms!).”

A £1 door wedge has also been touted as something to pack for safety, as putting it into the door offers another layer of security.

And a safety expert has revealed why you should never book a hotel room above the fourth floor, or below the second.
