‘I’m nowhere near’: Smriti Mandhana on comparison with Virat Kohli at RCB | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Smriti Mandhana is leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League. She became the most expensive player after RCB splurged Rs 3.4 crore to buy the star Indian batter in the auction last month.
Mandhana is now being compared with Virat Kohli, who has seen enormous success with RCB since the inception of IPL. Kohli was appointed RCB skipper in 2013 and took his side to the 2016 final. He stepped down from his role after the 2021 IPL season
Mandhana said she doesn’t believe in comparisons but would like to emulate what Kohli has achieved for the franchise.

“I don’t like the kind of comparison because what he (Kohli) has achieved is amazing. I just hope that I reach that level, but I’m nowhere near. What he has achieved for this franchise (RCB), I would like to try and do that,” Mandhana told reporters.
Interestingly, both Kohli and Mandhana have the same jersey number (18) for RCB and Team India. And Mandhana was officially unveiled as the captain of the franchise by Kohli.
Playing their first match of WPL on Sunday, RCB skipper Mandhana won the toss and elected to bowl against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium.
