Immersive Installations And Fashionable Raves: 8 Miami Art Week Events We Loved

0

Miami Art Week 2022 has come and gone with an array of events celebrating art, design and culture. This year was a special one, as Art Basel Miami celebrated its 20th anniversary in the Magic City and there was no shortage of celebrations to mark this big birthday. Here are eight fêtes we loved from beginning to end of the week:

1. Pulse Topology by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer Cocktail Reception at Superblue

An illuminating event in more ways than one, the opening night of Pulse Topology brought together high-tech art, automotive innovation and illustrious guests. Artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s interactive exhibition features 3,000 light bulbs that can sync with attendees’ pulses, creating a symbiotic relationship between the art and the viewers. The event which took place at Superblue was in collaboration with BMW. This same technology was also integrated into the new BMW i7 and guests had a chance to take a seat and see their heartbeat in action.

2. Surface x Polygon at W Hotel

This colorful pop-up occupied a bungalow at the W hotel and featured an array of cool installations by brands such as OffLimits and MokiBaby, and showcased design pieces from artists such as Kartell and Ara Thorose. The bungalow was also the backdrop to salon panels discussing the power of Web3 in everything from fashion to sustainability. The multilevel venue was the perfect place to discover new collectable items, take photos and mingle.

3. Resy and American Express Design District Pop-Up

This lunchtime event celebrated food and art with an installation by artist Phillip K. Smith III and bites by award-winning Chef Mike Solomonov of Zahav, Laser Wolf, Dizengoff, and K’Far. Guests dined on bites such as Jerusalem bagels and pistachio sticky buns while sipping champagne. American Express card holders also walked away with nice take home goodies, including a cookbook by Solomonov.

4. Perrier Jouet Lunch at Casa Tua

One of Miami’s most picturesque venues hosted an array of beautiful people to celebrate Planted Air, an artistic installation for Design Miami 2022 created in collaboration with artist Garance Vallée. Vallée whose work spans art, design and architecture, was in attendance as well as models Karlie Kloss, Grace Mahary and Isabela Grutman, and journalists from around the world. Guests dined on carpaccio and sea bass, and sipped Perrier-Jouet in the flower-filled second floor of Casa Tua.

5. Prada Extends at Faena Forum

Prada came to Miami to party — the Italian fashion house linked up with electronic music legend Richie Hawtin a.k.a. Plastikman to put on a multisensory music experience. Across multiple floors guests danced to techno beats and immersed themselves in massive visuals. Prada Extends is part of ‘The Sound of Prada’, a series of global events which connects creatives and has had previous iterations in London and Tokyo.

6. Delusionville

Another electronic music event, Delusionville took guests down the rabbit hole in a mind-bending 12-hour festival in collaboration with street artist Ron English. This immersive event took 6,000 hours to set up and featured 80+art works for this mind-bending extravaganza. In partnership with party brand elrow, this event was truly larger than life.

7. Dune Suncare

What better place to celebrate in Miami than on a boat? Newly-launched suncare brand Dune took to the (docked) seas on Casa del Sol’s House of the Sun Yacht across from the Fountainebleau. Guests sipped tequila, listened to beats by Mia Moretti and took pictures on the beautiful vessel while being protected from the sun with Dune, of course.

8. Nylon House at Goodtime Hotel

This blowout bash at the goodtime hotel was a madhouse to get into and stayed packed until late with celebrity guests including Serena Williams, Ciara and Justine Skye in attendance. Guests posed in the pink-hued venue or tried out makeup by E.L.F. while The Martinez Brothers played until late.
