Electronic Arts and Ascendant Studios have announced that Immortals of Aveum launches on July 20, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is being published under the EA Originals label.
The game follows a young man named Jak, who joins an elite order of battlemages called the Immortals as he battles in the Everwar. With his magical powers, he must fight against the tyrant of Rasharn, Sandrak, before it’s too late and the Immortals’ access to magic is blocked off.
Immortals of Aveum will not require an online connection to play or have microtransactions and the campaign will take about 25 hours to complete. There will also be optional paths and hidden secrets, along with abilities earned throughout the game that can also be used to discover new areas in earlier parts of the game.
“I’m incredibly excited to finally show the world Immortals of Aveum,” said Bret Robbins, CEO and Game Director at Ascendant Studios in a press release. “It’s been a five-year journey for us at Ascendant, and I’m so proud of the team and their commitment to making something great.”
General Manager of EA Partners Jeff Gamon added, “Bret built an incredibly talented team whose unrelenting passion for creating original, AAA games, deep lore, and telling imaginative new stories is on full display in Immortals of Aveum.”
The game will cost $60 on PC and $70 on consoles. Preorders include the Purified Arclight sigil, which increases the power of Jak’s spells. The Deluxe edition comes with a unique sigil, three rings, two bracers, and three totems for Jak to equip in the game. Additionally, EA Play Pro subscribers get access to the Deluxe edition on release day.
Immortals of Aveum was first revealed at The Game Awards 2022. In GameSpot’s Immortals of Aveum preview, we said, ” We’ve seen shooters where the story is about a young upstart chosen to kill the big bad because they’ve just got that special something that no one else apparently does. I want to know what Ascendant is doing to spice up a narrative we’ve seen dozens of times before, be it by tying in themes of environmentalism or something else.”
