In pictures: Melting Pot music festival returns to Glasgow park

Glasgow’s longest running club night brought its annual party to the city’s Southside for the bank holiday weekend.

Music lovers defied the rainy weather on Saturday May 6 as Melting Pot kicked off its popular two-day spring festival at Queen’s Park Recreation Ground.

The first day featured Manchester’s Homoelectric, Andy Piagio and Horse Meat Disco with New York disco veterans Odyssey topping the bill, before the night was closed out with Melting Pot DJs.

The Heverlee Stage boasted an array of Scotland-based DJs including Austin Ato; Supermax selector Billy Woods; Bonzai Bonner and Junglehussi; Clydebuilt Radio regulars Queer History of Dance Music and a full live band set from the Rebecca Vasmant Ensemble, who released album With Love, From Glasgow last year.

Sunday (May 7) featured homegrown artists Sofay and live band Pleasure Pool, drummer David Barbarossa and crowd favourites Charlotty Adigery and Bolis Pupul – with the Belgian-based electro-pop act packing out the Big Top Tent for their Scottish festival debut.

The final night was wrapped up with a blistering set from Glasgow DJ duo Optimo, who marked their 25th anniversary last year.

Around 6,000 attended the event across the two days, organisers said.

Festival Director Mark Mackechnie said: “It has been an excellent two days of truly exceptional music in Glasgow’s Southside.

“We’re extremely proud of this year’s lineup and delighted that the crowd were behind all of the artists from start to finish.

“Fans, artists and organisers agree it’s been a great vibe, and an unforgettable Spring Bank Holiday Weekend celebration.”
