Australian fast-food restaurants have been sneakily raising their prices as cost of living hits around the country.
A recent DailyMail Australia article calculated the increase in prices at Maccas restaurants around the country.
A McDonald’s cheeseburger has leapt in price from $3.15 in 2019, to $5 in 2023, a 58 per cent increase.
The McChicken burger previously cost $9.60 but now sets customers back $12.55, a 30 per cent increase (ehen ordering on My Maccas app).
The Fillet O’ Fish has also seen an increase (which doesn’t matter because no one buys the Fillet O’Fish) it cost $5, but now costs $7.10 – an increase of 42 per cent in just under four years (when ordering via Uber eats).
An iconic soft serve cone cost was 60c in 2019 but is now $1 – a 66 per cent increase.
Happy Meals have also gone up by 15c when ordering through the MyMaccas app.
But it’s not just Maccas hiking their prices.
PerthNow compared prices at Hungry Jacks and KFC which have also increased their prices by a similar amount.
Using HJs vouchers, in 2019, two flame grilled Whoppers used to cost $7.95 but now cost $11.95, a more than 50 per cent increase.
A 10 nuggets and large chips meal used to cost $5.95 but has been increased to $6.95, a 16 per cent increase.
Using vouchers a family bundle with two whoppers, two cheeseburgers, four small chips, 10 nuggets and four small drinks costs $29.95, in 2019 this came to $19.95, this is a more than 50 per cent increase.
Using the app, a KFC 15 pieces original recipe cost $15 in 2019, using the app today the same amount costs $24.40, this is a 62 per cent increase.
Nuggets cost $10 for 24, today using the app 18 nuggets are available for $11.95, an increase in price and decrease in quantity.
