The two teams occupied the top two spots in the WTC 2021-23 cycle and by virtue of that, they will be taking part in the championship clash.
India will be hoping to better their previous WTC Final performance in 2021, when they lost against New Zealand. Australia, on the other hand, are playing their first-ever WTC Final and would love a win over India.
India and Australia both have played 4 Tests against each other earlier this year in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Indian side won the series 2-1 and retained the BGT for the fourth time in a row.

WTC Final 2023: India and Australia Team News, Injury Update
Australia have pacer Josh Hazlewood ruled out with an injury. It is to be seen whether Australia choose Nathan Lyon or Todd Murphy as their spin option. Lyon has a lot more experience whereas Murphy had a decent outing in the BGT.
Australia captain Steve Smith would also be keen on selecting their batting lineup as that can be a huge dilemma. David Warner would be one of the names who may start, whereas the selection between the likes of Travis Head and Matt Renshaw can be very tricky.
For India, the injury list is massive. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah all are injured and didn’t make it to the WTC squad. India are already cripple in the wicketkeeping area and any of the newbies KS Bharat or Ishan Kishan may play in the final. Bharat looks likely to be given the nod in the match.
The dilemma to pick the right amount of spinners will be crucial and we believe India may opt for two spinners in the match, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Ajinkya Rahane, who was picked for his supreme IPL performance, may get a nod in the starting lineup.
India will be aiming to go with three pacers at least and Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur look likely the candidates who may start whereas pacer Jaydev Unadkat may be benched for the match.
