Skipper Rohit Sharma (103 off 221 balls), also eschewed his natural flair en route his 10th Test hundred and a record 229-run opening stand with Jaiswal (143 batting, 350 balls) as India batted cautiously but still did well enough to slowly bat West Indies out of the game, finishing the second day on 312 for two.
It has been a terrific batting display from the visitors who now lead by 162 runs at the end of the second day’s play.
Jaiswal became only the 16th Indian player to score a debut century in Tests, as he remains at the crease to reach even greater heights on the 3rd day. Former India captain Virat Kohli is also unbeaten on 36 and has looked comfortable.
India bundled West Indies for just 150 runs on the 1st day. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul and also became the 3rd Indian bowler to pick 700+ Test wickets.
