The Covid-19 crisis and the too-often catastrophic mistakes made in response to it need a thorough examination so we can learn the right lessons and begin the process of restoring trust in our public health authorities and institutions.
From the get-go the mistakes were multitudinous, whether it was in the manufacturing of the tests; the unjustified length of school closings; the unnecessary masking and vaccination of kids; the draconian, but ineffective, lockdowns or the suppression of dissenting voices in the medical community concerning such issues as treatments.
All these and more underscore the need for a truth commission.
