India vs Australia: Dharamshala may Lose the 3rd Test, Possible Back-Up Venues Revealed

0

The ground in Dharamshala has undergone renovation recently, and on account of that, the stadium may not be fit to host an international match. BCCI is set to take the ultimate decision this week, as an internal team is set to visit and inspect the conditions of the stadium.

An earlier inspection was done on February 3, but the final inspection will conclude this weekend, thus determining the fate of Dharamshala.

What is the Problem in the Dharamshala Stadium?

The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association decided to relay the outfield and install a brand-new drainage system. It is now understood that the outfield is not ready and there are plenty of bald patches in the stadium where the grass cover is yet to emerge.

The last time Dharamshala hosted a match was T20 encounters between India and Sri Lanka last February. The picturesque stadium on the lap of the Dhauladhar range has only hosted one Test in the past, which was one in the 2016-17 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India won the match and clinched the series 2-1.

The ticket sale for the 3td Test hasn’t yet started and if the Test gets cancelled, BCCI will have to shift their focus to a new venue.

Potential New Venues for the 3rd Test:

BCCI has already shortlisted a back-up venue if Dharamshala can’t make it. Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, Indore and Pune are in the shortlist and one of the cities can host the Test match.
