AHMEDABAD: In some encouraging piece of news for the Indian team, TOI has learnt that pace ace Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of action since September last year due to a back in jury, has started bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he’s recuperating.
If Bumrah doesn’t feel any discomfort in his back, there is hope that he may finally return to action for the final two Tests of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The third Test of the iconic India-Australia series will kick off at Dharamshala from March 1. “Yes, Bumrah has started bowling in the nets. Let’s hope all goes well and he’s declared fit,” said a reliable source.

Iyer not ruled out of 1st Test yet
Meanwhile, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a niggle in the back, has still not been ruled out of the first Test.
“There’s very much a possibility that he will recover, as the first Test starts only on February 9 (in Nagpur). He’s suffering from a stiff back, not a major problem. He will try his level best to be fit for the series. No one ruled him out yet-certainly not the BCCI’s medical team at NCA,” a source said.
Team India will assemble in Nagpur on February 2 and train there (both at the old stadium at Civil Lines and at the new stadium in Jamtha) from February 3 to 8.

India, Australia PMs to watch fourth India-Australia Test together
The Prime Ministers of India and Australia, Narendra Modi and Anthony Albanese, will together watch the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australi a, which will be held here at the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium from March 9-13, TOI has learnt.
This is the first time that the Indian Prime Minister will watch a match at the refurbished stadium since it was named after him.
