Renuka Singh’s spell of 5/15 tore into England’s top order to leave them in trouble at 29/3 by the fifth over of the match after skipper Harmanpreet Singh chose to bowl first after winning the toss at the Newlands Cricket Ground.
Renuka’s previous best was 4/10, which came against Australia during last year’s Commonwealth Games. The 27-year-old fast bowler justified her captain’s decision as she removed Danni Wyatt off the third over of the match as wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh took a one-handed blinder behind the stumps.
Renuka came back to remove an in-form Alice Capsey in the next over as she bowled the last-match half-centurion for just 3 runs.
Renuka’s line and length, along with assistance from the conditions, kept England batters on their feet but they maintained an aggressive stance to score runs in the powerplay against other bowlers.
However, Renuka returned for her third over on the trot to remove another in-form batter Sophia Dunkley (10) by uprooting her stumps.
England bounced back in the game with Nat Sciver-Brunt having a crucial 43-run stand with skipper Heather Knight, who scored 28.
Renuka Singh takes two wickets in last over

Renuka came back to bowl her last over at the end of England’s innings and made the most out of it by removing a threatening Amy Jones (40), whom she had caught behind.
Renuka completed her fifer off the next delivery as she had newly-in Katherine Sciver-Brunt, who miscued a full-length delivery to Radha Yadav on long-on.
