World No. 105 India and World No. 148 Kuwait were always the favourites to qualify for the semis with inferior-ranked Nepal and Pakistan being the other group rivals. Both of them had little difficulty in making the semis as they qualified with one game to spare.
Kuwait have scored seven goals and conceded just a goal while India put the ball past the net six times while being on a clean-sheet run of eight matches. Both the sides have showed their squad strength during the tournament with seven different goalscorers for Kuwait while India rotated eight players from the first game.
For India, Sunil Chhetri has scored four goals, including a hat-trick against Pakistan in the first game. Udanta Singh and Naorem Mahesh Singh being the other goal scorers. Mahesh was also the star performer in the firs game for his quality runs through the left flank.
