DUBAI: Fast bowler Hasan Ali has joined the Pakistan squad in Dubai ahead of the blockbuster Asia Cup campaign opener against India today (Sunday), said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday.
Pakistan team was earlier dealt with a blow ahead of the clash against India with their fast bowler Mohammad Wasim ruled out of the tournament due to a left side strain. Ali was named as his replacement. The Pakistan team management decided to keep Wasim with the squad, while he completes his rehabilitation.
India will look to start their Asia Cup title defence by avenging their loss during the last meeting with the arch-rivals at the T20 World Cup in October 2021.
In that match 10 months ago, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi destroyed the Indian top order with two quick strikes. Contributions from the then-skipper Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) took India to 151/7, but knocks from Mohammed Rizwan (79*) and Pakistani skipper Babar Azam (68*) meant that the ‘Men in Blue’ succumbed to a shocking ten-wicket defeat.
