Rohit Sharma and Co will look to repeat the first ODI result, but hope for a better batting display after they bundled out Shai Hope’s side for a paltry 114 and chased the total down with 5 wickets in hand and 27.1 overs to spare at the same venue in Bridgetown on Thursday (July 27).
Spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja (3/37) and Kuldeep Yadav (4/6) starred with the ball as the visitors dismantled the hosts innings in 23 overs with only skipper Hope adding 43 runs as a meaningful contribution.
In response, India made a little mess of the chase. Ishan Kishan (52) scored a fifty, but rest of the reshuffled top order including Shubman Gill (7), Suryakumar Yadav (19), Hardik Pandya (5) and Shardul Thakur (1) all were dismissed cheaply.
Rohit (12*), who demoted himself down the order, finished the chase along with Jadeja (16*). Virat Kohli also did not bat in the match. For West Indies, spinner Gudakesh Moite claimed two wickets.
The two sides will now clash agian at the Kensington Oval Stadium. This will be their fifth meeting at the venue, where the head-to-head record between West Indies and India is level as it stands in Barbados.
