As per the report, Viacom18 has bagged the digital rights for the series after Dream Sports, promoters of FanCode, sub-licensed the rights to the group for India’s tour of the West Indies. FanCode currently holds the broadcast rights of West Indies bilateral matches.
Dream Sports are also in touch with Prasar Bharati for the linear rights, which will make DD Sports eligible to broadcast India vs West Indies series on TV.
“We are working on various arrangements for the series. While the matches will be available on FanCode, we may also share the content with a couple of other platforms, both linear and digital,” said a Dream Sports executive to Cricbuzz.
The tentative schedule for the series was also revealed by the website on Tuesday as the series will be played between July 12 and August 13 with the final two matches (4th and 5th T20Is) are likely to be hosted by the USA in Florida.
The venues will be made official once Cricket West Indies gets go ahead from the Indian cricket board (BCCI) during the World Test Championships final in London, beginning on June 7.
Earlier, the Afghanistan tour of India before the Asia Cup was reportedly put on the back burner after Hotstar’s digital and linear broadcasting rights for India’s domestic matches came to an end.
