60 years of India Kuwait diplomatic ties

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8: The Indian Embassy in Kuwait organized the India-Kuwait Cultural Festival at the Kuwait National Museum under the title ‘Namaste Kuwait’ bringing alive the cultural heritage of the majestic land that India is and connecting cultures and peoples of our the friendly countries.

“This is another effort by our two countries at further broadening the rich canvas of cultural engagement and further strengthening our already close civilizational affinities and linkages,” said the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait HE Sibi George in his opening remarks.

The ambassador thanked Kamel Abdul Jalil, Secretary-General, of the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters, and his team at NCCAL for taking the cultural relations between both countries to a higher level of partnership. The ambassador also thanked leadership of the Kuwait National Museum for the elaborate arrangements made to organize the event.

To place it right context, the Indian envoy said, today’s event is a celebration of the vibrant and dynamic partnership between our two friendly countries, India and Kuwait. Our ties are time tested and have been built over strong foundations by our peoples over centuries based on mutual trust and respect.

“In this rich history of our partnership, this year, 2021-22, bears a remarkable significance. This year we celebrate a unique confluence of important milestones — the 60th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait. This is an important milestone in our shared journey towards a shared history of sustainable progress, development and prosperity of the peoples of our two friendly countries. And this year, we, in India, celebrate the 75th anniversary of Independence of India,” the ambassador said.

Both these milestones are significant and the embassy has made it a top priority to celebrate these events with “our close partners from Kuwait and our Indian nationals and friends of India in Kuwait in a befitting manner.” Many events have already been organized by the Embassy under these broad themes and will continue to do so in the days, weeks and months ahead.

The ambassador concluded by saying, “I would like to thank all the Indian Community Associations, Community members and all the many Indian artists and children who have joined hands in this effort to showcase Indian culture and heritage.”
