Tyson Fury delivered a masterful display to KO Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, but ‘The Gypsy King’ was still up and about early the next morning

Tyson Fury firm on retirement after win over Dillian Whyte

Tyson Fury may have enjoyed one of the biggest wins of his career over Dillian Whyte on Saturday night – but he was never going to reward himself with a lie-in.

In front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, ‘The Gypsy King’ delivered a spectacular ring entrance, coming through the curtain on a throne to a remix of American Pie and Kings of Leon. He then climbed off and ran under the ropes as the crowd lapped it up.

And he backed up his ring-walk with a masterful performance, controlling the opening five rounds before brutally flooring Whyte with a right uppercut. Although ‘The Body Snatcher’ staggered back to his feet, referee Mark Lyson had little choice but to halt proceedings.

Afterwards, Fury celebrated in his now customary way, treating those in attendance to his own version of American Pie on the microphone. And the WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion continued the party on Sunday morning – albeit with a much, quieter, family affair.

His wife, Paris, took to Instagram to post a family snap of her enjoying a breakfast of champions with her husband. They were joined by John and Tommy Fury, Molly-Mae Hague, and friends Timothy Allcock and his partner Emily.

Paris captioned the image ‘Family celebration’ and her husband certainly seemed to be replenishing, feasting on pancakes, bacon and fruit. There was a beer on the table, but it appeared to belong to Timothy – with the Morecambe based man seemingly more concerned with flicking a cheeky ‘v-sign’ with his fingers.

That wasn’t the case later on though, with The Sun reporting that the group continued their day with friends, including TV presenter Mark Wright at the TOWIE hot spot Sheesh Restaurant in Chigwell, Essex, in the afternoon. Dressed in flamboyant and colourful trousers and jacket, white shirt and black hat, Fury happily raised a glass of bubbly.

Video footage shared by his friend Ty Mitchell on social media then showed the 33-year-old on a video call to Eddie Hearn. The Matchroom boss had previously backed Whyte to win at Wembley.

Paris meanwhile, is yet to speak out on comments made by Carl Froch, who this week suggested she was pregnant with a seventh child. As always, she was in attendance at Wembley, joining her partner afterwards as he announced he was now likely to retire from the sport.

“I promised my lovely wife Paris of 14 years that after the Wilder 3 fight, that would be it,” he told BT Sport. “I meant it, we had a war, it was a great trilogy and I meant that.

“But I got offered to fight at Wembley at home and I believe I owed it to the fans, every person in the United Kingdom to come here and fight at Wembley. Now that it’s all done, I think this is it, this might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King. What a way to go out, a big thank you to the United Kingdom!”

Paris however, seemed to suggest he could be tempted to return to face the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk v Anthony Joshua rematch, which takes place in July: “I know in my heart that the only reason Tyson would come back is for a unification fight and that would be the only reason. He has nothing left to prove,” she said.

Fury had predicted he would make light work of rival Whyte, who had waited years for a world title shot. “Before the fight, in the changing room, I told my team, ‘This is going to be an exceptional performance, I’m going to put on a show’,” Fury said in his post-fight press conference. “I could feel it. I knew I was going to put on a show. My feet were good. My jab was good. I was jabbing the head off him. I hit the Body Snatcher (Whyte) with a left hook to the body and said to him, ‘You’re hurt, aren’t you, Body Snatcher?'”

Discussing the sell-out crowd inside Wembley, Fury added: “I’m overwhelmed with the support. I can’t believe that my 94,000 countrymen and women have come here tonight to see my perform. I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to every single person who bought a ticket here tonight or stayed up late to watch it on TV.

“Dillian Whyte is a warrior and I believe that Dillian will be a world champion. But tonight, he met a great in the sport. I’m one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. I’m a legend in this game. There’s no disgrace. He’s a tough, game man but you’re not messing with a mediocre heavyweight. You’re messing with the best man on the planet.”
