A YACHT gifted to Grace Kelly for her honeymoon has had an extensive makeover and is now back sparkling on the water.
The 147ft beauty has had a glamorous history and is once again fit for a princess after major renovations.
The yacht was a wedding present to the Hollywood star-turned princess and the Prince Rainier III of Monaco from shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis in 1956.
M/Y Grace – as it’s now called- takes 16 guests around the Galapagos Islands and the Grace Kelly suite aboard is priced from £17,000.
The magnificent boat now has renovated staterooms, an upgraded bar, a new lounge and kitchen and both indoor and outside space has been maximised for 360º views.
Grace’s upgraded engines, generators and propellers allow guests to sail the islands faster, in more comfort and with less fuel consumption while traveling at 15 knots.
After being gifted the yacht in 1956 ahead of his wedding to the iconic American actress, Prince Rainier spent a month renovating the boat to make it perfect for his soon-to-be wife’s arrival.
On their honeymoon, they toured the coasts of Corsica and Sardinia aboard their new dashing yacht, which they christened Deo Juvante II.
“Born in 1928, just before The Crash silenced the Roaring Twenties, she’s surrendered none of her youth’s glamour to the scars and wrinkles of a gallant life, including a stint chasing submarines during World War II,” said the owners Quasar Expeditions about the vessel’s history.
“Combat aged on her, but benefactors like Aristotle Onassis, John Issa, and Prince Rainier ensured she was kept in the style to which she was accustomed.
“Now, as the M/Y Grace, she plies the waters of the Galapagos Islands, once again the elegant hostess to carefree, adventurous, perfect parties,” they added.
