AN Edinburgh tourist attraction has been named second best in the world for family fun.
Tripadvisor has revealed its top travel experiences for 2023, voted for by travellers.
Their Travellers Choice ‘Best of the Best Things to Do’ awards includes various categories including ‘unmissable experiences’ and activities for foodies.
And the big winner this year is the Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience in Edinburgh, which has been rated No2 globally in the Family-Friendly Experiences category.
But that isn’t the only award the sweet attraction achieved. It was also voted number four in the world in the Food&Culinary Experiences category and came fourth in the UK’s Top Experiences.
The Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience is a hands-on chocolate-making experience ideal for families – little ones and chocco-holics will adore it, because you get to created your very own unique souvenir Scottish-themed chocolate bar and take it home.
You’ll also indulge in tasting a mouth-watering selection of over 40 kinds of chocolates from both Scottish and international chocolatiers, including chili chocolate, gin chocolate and even, believe it or not, haggis chocolate!
It’s 90 minutes of chocolate heaven where you’ll discover the secrets behind making the best bars, hearing about the different cocoa beans and where they come from.

Lulu331 said: “We actually heard about this experience from another tourist while we visited Stonehenge! I am so glad that we did!
“We had the opportunity to create our own chocolate bar with milk or dark chocolate. There so about 15 different options to add to our bar and the molds had nine different options. I used a mould of the Scottish flag, and then added krispie pieces, marshmallow and caramel to my chocolate.
“My daughter used a mould of Nessie, and was much more creative in her masterpiece. Definitely a fun way to spend part of our last day in Edinburgh!”

The attraction in Edinburgh was only beaten by a dolphin cruise around the stunning Hilton Head Island in South Carolina in the USA, with the popular Wizard Walk of York in England making it to No3.
In the Food Experiences category, a food Walking Tour in Reykjavik came first, followed by private street food tour by motorbike in Vietnam and a Khmer Cooking Class in Cambodia coming third, closely followed by The Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience.
Tripadvisor analysed 12-months of review data (May 1, 2022 – April 30, 2023) from millions of travellers across the globe, for the definite guide to the very best activities and excursions this year – from bookable tours and experiences to top attractions to visit along the way.
